Every school year, The Campaign for College Opportunity selects a number of undergraduate students to participate in their Student Leadership Institute. Through this experience students will take a seat at the policy-making table by participating in info-packed training sessions to learn about higher education policy. This opportunity will give Hector and Kimberly the tools and resources necessary to advocate on behalf of college students throughout California.
About the program: The Campaign for College Opportunity’s Student Leadership Institute empowers college students to become effective advocates on their own behalf and on behalf of their peers. The program will offer leadership and skills-building training to empower participants to engage in the higher education policy process, network with professionals, and advocate on critical higher education issues that directly impact them. Student Leaders will participate in bi-monthly 3-hour training and advocacy sessions that will equip them with the information and tools to be agents of social change within their own college campus. Student Leaders will also have the opportunity to participate in advocacy events at the State Capitol in Sacramento and speak in front of system-wide governing Board and local community college Board meetings.
