It is a great day to start something BIG

As a student your role in the college and career planning is to:

  1. Dream BIG!
  2. Set your college and career goals.
  3. Know what you need to do to prepare for college and careers.
  4. Seek support to reach your goals.

Students in middle school can do the following to start preparing themselves for college and a career.

✔    Get A and B grades, especially in your English and Math classes

✔    Join clubs or programs that can develop your skills

✔    Build a network of friends who also want to go to college

✔    Participate in programs that enable you to visit colleges, take college claseese, and experience college life.

✔    Take Algebra I, and pass with a “C” or better.

✔    If you are taking Algepra, take the PSAT exam in 8th grade (October).

✔    Explore a variety of high school options and programs (e.g. charter schools, magnet schools, etc.) and choose one that suits your interests and academic needs
