The Los Angeles Education Consortium (CalSOAP LA)
The California Student Opportunity and Access Program (CALSOAP) was established by the state legislature in 1978. CALSOAP Los Angeles provides financial aid information and assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the California Dream Act Application (CADAA). Additionally, CALSOAP Los Angeles assists students and families with overall financial aid literacy to help them make the best possible decisions in financing their postsecondary education.
The Los Angeles Education Consortium was established in 1997 with a grant from the California Student Aid Commission to help the effective delivery of support services to students in local schools. The program operates with a vision of “a public education system where students have all of the opportunities and resources necessary to succeed in school and in life.”
CALSOAP Los Angeles hires Student Success Coaches who are first-generation college students and alum of the respective schools they offer services to. Our Student Success Coaches have a deep connection to their communities and are working to change the college going culture at the schools they serve.
